My intake manifold gaskets failed. The original ones are made from paper. They break down from oil, I went to mitsubishi today and they now replace them with metal gaskets.Confirmed by the sales person that they changed them to metal cause the old paper ones break down

pajero tdi blown turbo advice needed
The intake manifold gasket blew and then oil spewed out everywhere.
Took the inter cooler pipe off and oil ran out of the turbo ,so I am assuming the turbo seal is gone.All pipes are covered in oil.The turbo has very minor play in the shaft but hasn't rubbed the blades on the body.

Petrol in Diesel
A mechanic recommended I put a litre or so of petrol in with my full tank of diesel to give it a bit more go and get better economy.
Too scared to do so but what are the thoughts out there? Is it a common thing that people do?

Pajero TDI,It appears the turbo has gone , whining. But it is also blowing large amounts of smoke, not diesel, if it where a petrol car I would say it had done the rings. IT is really excessive. Any ideas, if a diesel blows rings does it blow blue smoke or may be the turbo is leaking in to the ...

I have heard they do heads , but I have never had any probs , I always let it warm up before a shutdown though as I think it need to get to temp to prevent head damage no short shop trips in the paj.

I got my rebuilt gearbox back and the oil was black as could be. Had an additive that made the oil go like motor oil. Guy warned me as I left the store that the oil would be black as the ace of spades

Thanks for the replies. I think I will stick with what I have , reason being by comparo it now doesn't seem too bad. I have a friend who has a 80 series and I thought of a change, but he still uses more than me towing.

What is it?
I need to tow 2 ton and the paj 2.8tdi uses about 16litres per 100 towing at 100-110 kph, given diesel cost is there a more economical diesel out there?

I have hella 4000's they are pretty good especially in the pencil beam, the spread where ok but I also have hella 160s and ipf all on the front and the 4000 pencil beats em all. We do a bit of shooting my mate bought cibie and we lined the 2 cars up , next week they where on ebay.

Are the gearbox and the transfer case sharing the same oil on a 95 paj.
My gear box is a bit clunky on second gear( occaisonally) and I wanted to add some nulon to it but didnt want to stuff up the centre diff lock in case it works like a lsd .

when motorcycles in group hang 2 foot of ya bumper though the spur ,drop a gear give it a rev and let em smell the Diesel. They all backed off after that for some reason. made em lift there visors and all.

I had this once , and I changed the gear knob, as mine was non standard and it fixed it for me. The original was much lighter so it was probably acting as a weight on top!!!
