Hey all,

Just been offered a 4Runner RV6 cheap for 2k, its good except have been told that the bottom end is about to go.

So my question is what are my options?

does anyone know of a cheap RV6 motor, maybe from a conversion or something?

can i put the 22r or 3y onto the Rv6 5speed box?

I have searched this but only found limited info, but basically we just bought the wife a tidy gxl 80series, but it has what feels like bad backlash when changing gears and chatter when decelerating. Its all stock with 300+ klms on the clock and have been told that could be front cv plates ...

Hey mate, the weakest part in the suspension is the idler arm (same as most IFS vehicles) In my terrano I made a brace to stop it bending the shaft.. Have pics if you need them .... Also the draglink itself wears out and get what is call rollover where instead of moving sideways it basically rolls ...

Mine were noisey as well so I checked the clearences but were all good and still makes the noise ... Fresh oil still no change .. Another mechanic told me that the fact that I have a bigger sports exhaust makes them noisey ???

Can you move the window up or down by manually turning the window mech ( the other part where the plastic gear sits onto ) with pliers etc ??? If it just spins freely then the window mech is stuffed ...

Be very careful with the autos as they are getting to the age now where a lot are starting to slip leak etc and a reco one will cost in excess of 2k ... A mate just had a different valve body fitted so it shifts harder but apart from that all good... Mine was a manual and also beware of this gear ...

Use an oxy and heat the outside area , then should be able to use a drift (preferably brass) to hammer it out ... Good luck

Did own a 88 2door and loved mine !!!... wasn't much left that was standard though ..

don't get scared being an import as the only difference to any australia pathy is the turbo...

Repco , Autobarn etc list all parts you need so just make a call..

If it drives like sh#t then it will need ...

They use bundy diffs for the hilux sas ??? should be about the same track but no idea if everything else would line up. Lots of ratios to choose from as well

Mate if your not already a member then go join NPORA (usa not NZ) those guys are wild and do some serious stuff to there pathy's. They have heaps of build ups etc.

As far as I know an XL wagon like mine has power windows/ central locking and 7 seats. The base line wagon has 5 seats and no power. The swb XL isn't ment to have power windows but not sure and the swb XLT is the top line power etc...

If your unsure of diff ratio just look at the compliance plate ...

Hey mate, got same setup as you want on mine, arb bar with triple 240 blitz's. Didnt notice any difference from two to three. The temp always sits just under half way, Even towed a car trailer back from bris the other week during the day with air con on and running LPG and still didn't go over half ...

That thing is up near noosa and was for sale on ebay not that long ago..

As for engineering or mod plates, I was told that the reason they can't do it is that there is no mod plate suspension code in Qld unlike engine conversions etc

The adjustable rear control arms are to LOWER your pinion to keep the universal joints aligned. This will also keep your spring seats level. I believe you are better off lengthening your lowers rather than shortening your uppers myself.

diffs will be fine..

need to pull out the diff centre and then remesh the new crown wheel and pinion with the correct backlash...

not a cheap exercise

Ok so on my 92 mav TB42 with factory 3.9's and 33 Mtr's it sits at 2200rpm at 100klms. With changing to 4.6 diffs , can anyone tell me what revs theirs sits on at 100 klms also was it a big difference in power etc at that speed... Wanting to go 35's soon but not if it is slower again.
