This dude is a genious, really hits the nail on the head. should send this to nissan and see if they believe it :P Agreed. But I think that Nissan admitting to any sort of inherent problem with the engine's control ancillaries would be commercial suicide. Especially in this economic climate. I don ...

I would not necessarily call them stressed. Mine doesn't rev much over 2200rpm around town, doesn't boost more than 10 psi (around town) and egt's are typically around 250 degrees from behind the turbo. They fail because of some inherent design flaws with the ancillary controls like the MAF sensor ...

I agree, the autos are pretty good. Mine is a 2002 and I have a manual torque converter lock that I built for it. If you are going to tow, make sure you look into that as they really hunt in and out of lock when towing in O/D. You also might want to look at a set of reduction gears if you get bigger ...

I agree with what you are saying wrt Nissan's service, their relative lack of accountability and the expectation of the engines longevity. And I really feel for those who have had to shell out fifteen gorillas for a new or rebuilt engine. I guess I am taking a more pragmatic approach these days. I ...

why though, should anyone have to do any of that to make sure their engine lasts past 100 000km? A stock untouched engine serviced by the book should be capable of lasting AT LEAST 200 000km. If it can't, it shouldn't be for sale. BORING :!: Slagging off on the ZD30 is done to death on this site as ...

Yeah, there is stuff that others have done as well like fitting another fuel pump so there is positive pressure at the injector pump, using the Consult software live via an in car computer, but I'm not quite that fussy.sw1 wrote:thats some good tips there

There are a few of things you can do for your 3-litre to avoid the bang-bang. - fit boost and EGT gauges (should be mandatory for all turbo diesels anyway) and keep an eye on the levels - change the AFM every 100,000ks or as required - don't use anything other than the Nissan air filters - catch can ...

Patrol shimmy and RTC adjustable dampers
Has anyone had any luck dialling out the dreaded 80kph Patrol shimmy with an adjustable steering damper? I noticed that Tough Dog make one now but am concerned that if I put too much damper on it, then the steering wheel won't return to centre after cornering. Which brings me to my question ...

I used the $50 Jaycar kit. I'm not a mechanic, but am an electical engineer . . . it was easy. Results? I don't reckon any more power directly, however the timing does not drift, at all. Definately better on the points. And the car runs much smoother. I got a second kit and second coil for a spare ...

Aux Belly Fuel tank
I have recently purchased a 40l belly tank for my GQ (ex-gas conversion) with the intention of adding capacity beyond the factory tank. Does anyone have any experience with plubming these in with a factory tank? Not sure about of couple of things like: (1) What to do with the filler. (2) Whether to ...

Fark! I didn't know the TBs revved that high! I was amazed to see the pics on your web site . . . almost drowning your norkle-less petrol motor in the Pig Pen. Whoever said petrol motors didn't work under water obviously hasn't seen those pics!!!

Turbo's are a great thing........as long as they were factory fitted or the previous owner paid for it!! Including fitting and a 3" exhaust, I've been quoted $4200 for a kit I got quioted nearly 7G.... kit, fitment and dyno tune. Try doing it to a petrol running dual fuel and you starting with a ...
