Re: Weird lighting problem

dont know whats going on , but make sure you use a 12v test light when looking for this kind of problem and not a volt meter. Start checking with the lights connected at the light and work your way back checking both sides of and connectors and relays. Sounds like some sort of dodgy connection to me.

did you check the contacts had been put in nice and flat. If they are cocked up one way a bit, this happens when the contact twists while doing up the nut, the plunger wont contact the other side .

Re: auto locker or air locker in a 80 series

I started with an auto locker in the rear and then put an air locker in the front. Auto locker works well but in the future i will relace it with an air locker, sometimes it would be good to turn off the rear.

try disconnecting the alt after youve charged the battery and see if it still drains the battery . Sometimes a short in the alternator will do this, other wise check for drain with a multimeter, disconnect negative and put the meter in line(between the terminal and the battery post) select Amps DC ...

my opinion would be go the ranger, we have them as work vehicles and take a flogging with no dramas, and also have colardos/dmax utes which are under powered use more fuel drive like a boat and rattle like a train and have all gone back under warranty for rooted rear springs. Rangers , no probs
