Zook92, As Ian suggests a post on AULRO will dig up a few more Tdi owners. Mine is 160,000 kms young ;) A lot will depend on regular servicing. Because diesels particularly low capacity high output 4 cylinder turbo diesels work at high compression there are probably greater stresses involved. :?: I ...

Well having stirred this up a bit ;) This is what I said (no one bothered to read that because maybe they were too busy defending their positions): If I wanted hands-on-info about day to day driving of a Freeloader used occasionally on sand I would be looking elsewhere as well. I would never buy one ...

You miss my point. Mate wants to drive Freelander on beach. Buying Freelander to drive on beach = bad idea. Supplying the requested information would not be helping him. What would you say if he wanted to buy the Freelander to tow a double horse float? Scott And my point is that he is not here to ...

alternator $2000 genuine! no sh1t and you can expect other replacement parts to be similarly over-priced. What constitutes opinion or fact and what is informed or hearsay? A genuine alternator for a 1995 Tdi Disco costs about $480. That is a fact. The lad wants advice then make the advice valuable ...

A Land Rover Specialist mate is a bloke who rubs his hands at the other side of his huge windows......built that way so he can see you coming for all the parts you are gonna need. Cheap parts with big Aussie dollar price tags So bloody true, sad isn't it :bad-words: Pending where you shop, still ...

As Micka says they can be a very capable vehicle and there are a lot of tricks to be played to enhance it's inherent qualities. Slunnies is a good example. But it must be sound in the first place otherwise you will be "rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic" I have heard that injectors can be ...

Well it's a good bit of kit but it is a Land Rover.
Plenty of recent owners will take them further than Land Rover really intended.
Initially you should check the service record. Regular and frequently is good.

Ok... So the lamps are working when you use the hazard switch that means that the fuses, hazard switch, lamps and flasher unit (the thing what switches the lamps on and off) are working. The only bit that is missing from those things is the indicator switch so maybe power to that unit or the switch ...

Disco drivers have a habit of not putting the transfer case into low range ;) They just need to learn how to use it. Like I said best engaged on the move. You can tell by the position of the little stick whether it's positively engaged or hanging on the edge. The change is usually accompanied by a ...

Hi Andy_B I find that low range is best engaged on the move at less than 5kph. If the low range and diff lock have not been used for a long time they can be a little sticky. As for the light not working and at the risk of stating the bleeding obvious have you checked the globe in the dash and the ...

I upgraded the wiring on my Disco following the AULRO diagram above and achieved a 13% passenger side improvement and a 20% drivers side (measured with a luxmeter). The improvement was noticable visually. It took about 3 hours. I already had 50+ Osram lamps. My lights are as good if not better than ...
