That's a heck of lot less than I paid for my Mitsubishi 5.29s 5 years ago, eh Frank? They've been very good to me and I still consider it money well-spent.
For these gears here, I'd probably give it a go on buying a few sets if I didn't already have a good set. It might be worth it, if that price ...

I cranked until I had approximately two inches of lift, however, I did not crank for the sake of camber (mostly). I cranked the t-bars to reach the lift I desired. Camber was fine-tuned with two shims on each side. Each truck may be different. That's just what worked for me. I should also mention ...

If your intent is to crank the torsion bars, then swapping only the upper control arms is ideal. I did this swap on my 88 three years ago and it's a great mod. Swapped UCAs from a 95 into my truck and cranked the t-bars. Camber is perfect and I gained a couple inches of lift. A plus side is that ...

On an 88 Mitsu with the stock axles, I wouldn't suggest running any larger than 35s. Although you can, it'll be that much easier to break an axle. I've got 33x12.5 tires on now, but when they wear out I'm planning to move up to 35s. I've made modifications in gearing and clearance to accommodate ...

Hiya Frank...long time no chat!
Yeah, as Frank describes, I put a Gen I V6 front diff, mounts, and CV axles into the front of my 4-banger and then put in an RD110. The only part that wasn't "bolt-in" was that I had to have my drive shaft shortened by 1.5 inches. Others who have done this mod still ...

I've got an ARB RD110 in the front of my Gen I. It originally had the smaller diff but I swapped in a Gen I V6 8" diff, along with the mounts and CV axles. I'm not sure about the Gen II, but on mine I had to have the front drive shaft shortened by about 1.5" at a driveline shop. Other than that, the ...

I use my rear locker much more than my front locker. I don't know about where you guys are, but out here there are lots of rock-slabs. On rock, engaging the front locker makes steering darn near impossible in many situations. I would have to first steer in the direction I need to go, then engage the ...

I'll let you know when I install my winch. It's still sitting on my garage floor waiting on me to modify my winch-bumper's mount plate. The winch I got is not the Pajero winch. I picked up a used Ramsey PTO winch and it's wider that the winch mounting base of my bumper. Once I cut and re-weld it I ...

Nitteberg has got 2.85 gears then the PTO wouldn't work so got custom gears.....Did the 2.85 gears fit the gen 1 box such as the one nitteberg runs?
Nitteberg has the first 2.85/PTO combo. I have the only other one in existence.

The weakest link is usually the skinny-pedal actuator (driver giving it too much gas). After that, I'd say the CV axles, however, my 88 (smaller rear diff) has been locked front and rear (ARBs) and with 33s for over three years, doing some hardcore wheeling, and I haven't had any trouble.

I got my bushes from a Toyota dealer. Just get bushes for the front shackles of an 83 4x4 pickup.
The Toyota bushes are slightly too large to fit into the Mitsu leaf-spring attach-points. In order to fit them, you'll need to shave a small amount of rubber from the outside diameter of the bushes. I ...

I got these ($82 US) from Summit Racing for my 88. Yes, you have to use the Toyota bushings and the OD of each bushing needs to be shaved down just a hair. The kit I linked here is one with non-greaseable bolts. If you want greaseable bolts, you will also need to order this bolt kit ($30 US).

I had difficulty understanding what you were asking in your PM to me, but now I think I see what you're asking more clearly. I don't know what your stock differential ratio is, but it sounds like a change in differential gearing might be your solution.

If your primary concern is gas mileage and on-road performance, a shorter, narrower A/T tire (generally) is better. If your primary concern is off-road performance, a taller, more aggressive M/T or X/T tire is better. My preference for width is a wider, rather than a narrower tire, although there is ...
