my 4.2TD stumbles when its cold and then blows a huge puff of smoke ( only one time, once its done that it will be fine) i have only noticed this cince the cold weather has arrived (doesnt help that i leave home at 5am)

dont listen to the neigh sayers... get to your wrecker and run the tape measure around a GUs dash and then compare it to the size of the gq...

dont expect it to be a straight fit and to just BOLT up, but mounting points can always be acheived if you have a welder...

its just that a mate got pulled up on his gu patrol cab chassis and asked where his spare was. the copper let him off with a warning that it was a ~$300 fine for not carrying the spare.

i was just wondering if this is right or the copper was full of it. :/

thanks guys . ill post more pictures as my little project progresses.

the mechanical oil press guage is just a stand in for the time being..ill be replacing it with a pyrometer as soon as i fing one in celcius and not farenheit.

i learn my lesson in the old car where the oil gauge leaked into the ...

i had some guages left over from another car and i decided to make a couple of pods for the GU

so i went to the local bunnings and got myself 2 x 50mm PVC 90degree bends.

well i had it on the freeway today (40 degree heat)at 110 all the way, with the A/C on and still the needle didnt move from just under the 1/2 way mark.. so i think its fixed. :)

UPDATE: i pulled the radiator out and it was caked in shit! so out came the guerney and it got blasted from the opposite side, being careful not to damage the fins. then the radiator got flushed while upside down..

4.2 gu overheating

hey all my 4.2 td is overheating even after 2 radiator flushes, wich released a fair bit of sludge from the radiator.

it only really gets to about 3/4 of the guage but thats not towing anything, and its running on the freeway.... this worsens as i put the A/C on
