Could be a venting issue in the main tank. Only way to equalise the pressure is by sucking fuel from the subtank.

If you want boost higher than 13 PSI then you will have to remove the Safety Valve above the intake manifold and blank it off. I have done up (modifed a yank chart) a rpm table to work out ideal rpm for given situations. Change the items in blue to what you have/want. I found out what the standard runs and tried different combos until I got close.

Transfer gears are the way to go. 2nd gear low range down steep hills and she will just idle down. Cost works out better as well.

Mine did the same. Fan worked fine when connected to 12V. There is a temp sensor on the front of the intercooler. This switches the fan on through the ECU. I toyed with disconnecting the fan and running through a switch on the dash but then I did a conversion.

In every case I have heard it is via a piggyback computer - I have never heard of anyone doing any mods to the pumps or injectors for increased fuel flow - I have on the GQ 2.8 which is mechanical but not the GU.

It is probably a plug he has disconnected on top front of the head which is for tacho (2 wire jobby). I have just had to trace mine after a conversion - pretty easy if you know where the sensor is.
