LRA GQpatrol trans to LT230 conversion

Has anyone here got one of these LRA conversions? Does it use the Patrol bellhousing or a custom type? And what about the adaptor to the engine. Does it use an adaptor ring or something similar?

I think there is a difference also in input gear spline counts also. And TX12 has bolt on rear drive flange and transmission brake, where as TX 10 has straight spline suitable for a slip yoke style driveshaft.

When you stripped down motor, were the brushes ok? There are 2 brushes that you can easily replace, but the other 2 are much more difficult. Also you can try loosening the posts and rotating them slightly then retightening. Smear the plunger with a very small amount of grease to prevent sticking ...

You cant flip the transfer case. Apart from the transmission being much larger and taller than the Navara trans--you might be able to use the Navara transfer case--which is the same as a Patrol except has front output on passengers side and no trans brake to bolt up to the Patrol gearbox rear ...

The remote transfer case fitted to the MQ/MK's is the same as the unit fitted to the 720 except that it has a transmission style handbrake drum on the rear output and is 'clocked' to provide an ofset output that the MQ/MK' require. It might be possible to use one of these if they are available over ...

The Cabstar truck H260 diff center is exactly the same as a patrol H260 but with a 2 pinion center and 6.72 ratio. The axle shafts are 37 spline 1.5" at the diff end, but neck down a fair bit to pass through an oil seal located in the end of the stub axle. Even though the Cabstar version is full ...

Try disconnecting the 2 relays associated with the glow plugs and see if flashing light stops. One of the relays might be faulty/sticking. From memory, one relay supplies +ve to the plugs, and the other relay supplies an earth return.

Forgot to mention also, that some models of Cabstar trucks also have the H260 in the rear with 6.71 ratio. Spline count is still 37 spline 1.5" axle shafts as in a Patrol. The diff center is a 2 pinion type. Again, the problem might be finding a matching ratio in reverse rotation to suit the front ...

Some models of Nissan Vans with the 2.7L diesel also used the H233B in the rear with a 5.71 ratio. The pinion flange on these is a similar size to a rover pinion flange which might make adapting your rover drive shaft a bit easier. You would need to swap the patrol diff center in as i think the ...
