Re: how loud is a 3'' on td42
I have a gq 4.2 turbo. I got the muffler put in as its the missus daily driver. Sound crap though. Thinking of takin it out but want to hear one without. I drove it with straight out dump pipe and it was loud, don't know how much difference it would have made with a longer pipe. heres one with bb ...

Re: Diff gears for 37's on GQ
Depends on what you mainly use your rig for. If you do a fair bit of traveling & are going to run smaller tyres for this the 4.6's might wear there welcome out pretty quick. Then I'd go 4.3's & use reduction gears in the transfer to compensate the 37's when wheeling. If your going to run the 37's ...

$195 each side for new bearings & second hand axle complete all done ready to slip in. From patrol apart in melbourne. This is the option I'm choosing when funds allow as no one around where i'm at wants to do em.

Re: Brake Bias Valve adjustment
the valves probably rooted. I would think winding it out would allow more pressure. pulling the spring in pulls the arm in closing off the pressure. done this to mine a couple of weeks ago for engineers adjusted the bracket so the arm was open more & fitted the slotted rotors pulls up a lot better ...

Re: GQ 35's Speedo Correction
You can change the speedo pinion takes about half hr part no. 32703-31g15 cost me $79 from nissan last month. it brought my speedo to 4% slow which my engineer was happy with as he said the rta spec +-4% so I was right on the line. I have that marks tyre match box never opened as I used the pinion ...

GU Town, I'm always on the look out for vibes ,noises etc & all tho it wasn't real bad I did notice it. Re: high-misalignment rod ends
Yea you need a custom length drag link with offset tie rods that will sit square to the knuckle and pitman arm at midway of suspension travel. I'll probably just go the MQ knuckle set up & gu box. Just have to work out how to mod the panhard rod bracket, diff end to get it parallel with the ...

Re: adjusting tappets td42????
you shouldn't need to replace the tappet cover gasket every time you adjust them. Don't over tighten the bolts as I got my mech to do the last adjustment & he over tightened the bolts causing the cover to deform slightly allowing it to leak oil. tapped the cover back into shape all good now.

Re: Coils Falling out of GU.
I ran the dobbinson flexy coils in 5". The front sagged to about 3 & 1/2" in less than 3 months ended up using coil spacers to get it back up. I found that the flexy coils gave a vibration thru the patrol, being a progressive rate coil in there designe I put it down to that. Had Kings 3" coils ...

From memory I used the existing holes from the pre cleaner to bolt the gu unit in. Used a spacer under 1 leg think it was the front 1 (easy to work that out anyhow). the snout of the air box sits approx 20mm from the inner gaurd, I opened up the hole in the inner gaurd as the snout was off centre ...

high-misalignment rod ends
Saw an article on flex. high misalignment rod ends were mentioned to replace standard tie rod ends giving the double deg's or more of angle before binding. unfortunatley thats pretty much all they touched on the rod ends. anyone running that set up? or know about it?

Xlink who's got one & what ya think of it?
I'm looking into a xlink to get the front to flex a bit or a lot better. I'm currently running 6" lift with snake arms. The way I see it I've got 2 options Super flex arms or keep my snake arms & add an xlink with lock out pin. Just after some feed back from those of you that have one fitted.

Also check your ball joints on the relay rod (drag link) & on the tie rod (tie rod ends). Mine had a warn tie rod on the drag link & the death wobble was incredable.

Busting tie rods
Whats the norm to fix (if there is one) the problem of busting tie rods on the draglink (GQ) due to the angle its on from the 6" lift. Was suggested to fit a gu box but the tie rod bolts on the top of the pitman arm so to me wouldn't seem to change the angle of the drag link all that much. Something ...

Don't see any more than 500 when up it up hill flat etc. will see 550 when towing prob more but keep that in check. 15 psi by 2000 rpm & 18 by 2400/2500 rpm & holds that to 4000 rpm ...
