Maybe the bike tube method has already covered this but for $20 a bunnings you can make a pretty good bleeder. Check the link below how I bleed mine when I installed rear disks on my Hilux with new master cyclinder.

Re: Designfab Subaru caliper rear disc conversion on YN67 is
This i show I did mine using the original Hilux cable. Eventually I plan to setup the left hand side to pull slightly more forward like the pic of the right hand side. It works fairly well but could be better. Before I fixed up the right it was fairly ordinary. The angle of the cable pull is ...

Re: Water to Air Intercooler install on LN106 Hilux
Yeah I saw your Subaru setup on the 4wd action forum. I have one of those Auberins units in my manifold before the turbo. That thing on my fuel pump is actually an altitude compensator but I have a boost compensator on a spare pump I got from the same vehicle the turbo came off. I have thought about ...

90c is what I see at 10psi full load at 5psi I see 50c or there abouts. That was the reason I looked at intercooling as it seemed very high. How do you measure afr? I always though the seat of the pants method of tuning was by egt. That is add more fuel until EGT's get to the highest point that is ...

Water to Air Intercooler install on LN106 Hilux
I recently installed a water to air intercooler from an early '90's model Subaru Liberty / Legacy into my LN106 Hilux that is running a Surf CT20 turbo. This is a write up on how I went about it and the results I saw in charge temp drop with the cooler installed. If you aren't aware the charge temp ...

Also ensure the master cyl has a tiny gap to the pedal arm on release to ensure shuttle piston fully back. I had the same problem when I did the conversion on a Hilux. In my case the problem was exactly what bazzle said - the rod on the transplant booster I used from an 80 series was slightly too ...

The rod running next to the leaf is the drag link. It connects the J arm (bolted to the swivel hub) and the steering box (arm hanging down in the top right of the pic). High steer eliminates this altogether by replacing the back - forward swinging steering box with a left to right swinging box from ...

Hilux 3L 2.8 Diesel Rear Main Crank Seal - DIY repair guide
If you are reading this you probably know that a leaking rear main crank seal in a 2.8 3L Diesel (or any L series) is a common problem. If you don't know what a rear main leak is or where to look for the leak - have a look in the gap between the rear of the sump and the gearbox. Oil can be found ...

Re: Speedo corrector install for Electronic speedos
I know for gear/cable driven speedos you just change the drive gear on the gearbox but I don't think that works for the electronic ones. I assume they make this kit to overcome that problem. The legs on the components were already spread to the correct width at that height and the box I got with it ...

Speedo corrector install for Electronic speedos
I'm sure most people realise that if you've got bigger tyres or different diff ratios to stock then your speedo will be out. The usual fix seems to be to use a GPS to gauge correct speed but that won't correct your odometer. I found this kit at Jaycar that can be used to correct an ELECTRONIC speedo ...

Hilux with 3L running cool - 70c
My Hilux has started to run at 70c where it used to be around 80 - 90c.
I checked the thermostat and found that it's stuck open. Is it a problem to run it at 70c? I imagine the thermostat is set to open in the 80s for a reason - can anyone shed any light on why I'd want it to run at 80 - 90?

Re: Endless Air / On board Air using AC compressor - Install
It's possible to adjust the pressure switch on the compressor I bought - you just need to increase the spring tension using the bolt at the top.
In the pic where it shows the switch mounted you can just see the + and - on the top.

Endless Air / On board Air using AC compressor - Install
My AC in the LN106 Hilux had long ago given up the ghost so I tried to get it running again but when the AC guy went to re-gas it he found multiple leaks (compressor shaft and evaporator were the main ones). The AC guy suggested that I could have got a complete new system installed for $1600 - yeah ...

Re: 2L Diesel Turbo Conversion-is it worth it?
I put a CT-20 turbo off at 2.4 turbo onto my 3L (2.8) motor and it made a heap of difference, particularly at highway speeds but also made a difference down low. It's way cheaper and easier than an engine conversion. You should get a pyrometer for it too so you can keep an eye on exhaust temps. Here ...

Mine is similar to the above. 2.8 with CT-20 turbo fitted, working factory temp guage and an after market fitted in the top hose. Mine sits around 80 most of the time. On the highway it gets to around 90 maybe a bit higher on a hill. The highest mine gets is 100 if sitting idling too long on a hot ...

My CT20 sourced from a Surf was leaking oil when I installed it on my 3L motor so I rebuilt it with an ebay kit and had MTQ balance it. That was two years ago and have had no issues since. Not sure how much difference there is between a CT20 and 26 but this is how I did it: http://www.outerlimits4x4 ...

Re: Best Way to get Good Suspension Travel / Flex on SFA Hi
By locating pin you mean the pin that sits in the hole on the spring seats on the differential? These are in the same location with IFS rears vs std rears...they are alot longer from the pin to the rear eye is all. What does make a difference is when you put rears in the front, as this extra length ...

I paid $40 at a wreckers but they were quite hard to find. Also try Gumtree as you can find people wrecking L series on there and they will most likely have no idea that they are a relatively hard item to find so should be cheap.

I have 2" ironman kit on my LN106 (on it when I got it). I fitted extended shackles to help clear my 32" tyres and I found the brake lines were slightly on the tight side so I fitted extended ones. I don't have adjustable torque rod or drag link so they must not be absolutely necessary.

EDIT - meant to say 10.5" - 11.5 will rub badly. -22 is the ideal but 0 can fit.
You can run 0 offset as long as the tyre isn't wider than 11.5". Wider than that and it rubs on the leaf at full lock.

Re: rear disk conversion - subaru rear caliper question
I don't think they can wind in too far. The threaded rod they go on has a lip at the bottom and it extends to where the o-ring sits so I don't think the piston can wind in past it. Be careful of the boot when pulling it apart too - I couldn't get a seal kit for them in Aus. Ended up getting two ...

Re: rear disk conversion - subaru rear caliper question
The Subaru rotor is designed for an 18mm disc with a smaller diameter than the patrol rear. That said a 20mm will fit into the caliper as the pic below shows - plenty of room around the patrol 18mm I had in the pic. I haven't tried fitting a 20mm rotor but I'd guess the only issue would be when it ...
