Re: Re:

In auto's and 3.0l petrols there is a dashpot that stops the idle from dropping too soon. That also causes the problem. Old post I know, but doe's anybody know where this is, ta. I have an rb30 manual & when air-con is on it seems to idle between 1200 & 1400rpm & sounds quite fast. It normally ...

Go for second hand OEM or even source the OEM stuff new.
Seen flea bay ones give up the ghost and a mate had a brand name aftermarket jobby let go and hole his radiator in a remote location.
Nothing wrong with the fitting of the fan either, defect in the fan itself.

GQ Hub Seals?

Ok, I have my new hub seals, the ones that fit into the disc brake rotor on the diff side of the rotor. Question is which way round do they go in? The seals have an "L" profile metal bit in them. Does the base of the "L" go into the rotor? Yeah I know, "Put 'em in the same as the old ones". Trouble ...

Mine usually dies when it's on E and parked on a slope. Comes good about two days after I fill it up again. Lift the carpet in the rear of the GQ and you'll find the hatch for the sender unit. I'm toying with the idea of a simple U channel with the chassis rails sitting inside the U and using the old bumperette mounting brackets welded onto it.
Cut a couple of 'T's into it for the high lift and a couple of rings for recovery points and see how I go.

I run the Tough Dog adjustables. They seem pretty good and have the added advantage of the adjustability which would be a plus if you are doing the desert runs. You can set them for load and corrugations and then reset them for bitumen etc.
Not cheap though at about $250 a corner.
