Seen flea bay ones give up the ghost and a mate had a brand name aftermarket jobby let go and hole his radiator in a remote location.

You should be able to purchase replacement nipples, get the angled ones, and the have about an 8mm nut right at the base of them so easy to unscrew and replace. Mine usually dies when it's on E and parked on a slope. Comes good about two days after I fill it up again. Lift the carpet in the rear of the GQ and you'll find the hatch for the sender unit. I run the Tough Dog adjustables. They seem pretty good and have the added advantage of the adjustability which would be a plus if you are doing the desert runs. You can set them for load and corrugations and then reset them for bitumen etc.
Not cheap though at about $250 a corner.
