Hey mate glad to here your thinking of getting back in a 4by, I'm still chasing the same, not many around thou, 4.2 's are still dear and not to many 3.0 's around either both have their good and bad points, 4.2 's good for towing and turboing for more power 3.0 's not great for towing heavy loads ...

Was told by the engineer it had to be the same thickness as the car, 1.6 mm, I used what was left of the roof for the bottom half and 1.6 mm for the rest

Did my GQ Dual Cab Chop myself

Chopped, welded ,bogged, painted and LED lights $1500

Alloy tray ( for now ) from wreckers $200

Engineer $400

All up about $2100

Looking good so far mate, should look good when you finish it, I did my GQ myself and happy with how it turn out ,just want to redo a new tray for mine ,what sort of tray you doing on yours and keep the pics coming

Finally got to do my trail arm bushes in the ute ,but I didn't think that they were this bad,saw that they were starting to split a bit and the 4by was starting to wobble a bit, especially under braking,so did one side, old bushes out a bit hard and new bushes in, bolt up ,cool,now other side old ...

Average of about 100-110 km's, sits on about 2100- 2200 rpm in 5th sitting on the 33's ,with a couple of sh#ty injectors that need to be replaced

Hi ,I've got the 5lt in my GQ dual cab with 2" lift on 33's, getting around town about 19-20lt /100k's and on the Highway about 16-17lt/100k's,just got to try and keep the foot of the loud pedal a bit more nope to hard

I've got them on my truck , 33 x 12.5 x 15,on 15 x 8 sunnies, a bit noisy on the road but grip all right on it, not bad in the sand handled Fraser alright,work well in the mud :D , haven't used them on the tracks yet cause I got to change rims, I've got Cruiser off set ones and want to go back to ...

Yeah mines the electric one ,they sent me the cable one first which was the wrong one,had a chat with Mark,he said send it back and we'll send the right one,easy to do ,unscrew patrol one, fit new one ,connect patrol one,connect 3 wires ,I think,easy

Hi kegz , mate I get about 18-20L / 100K's, running VN V8 , 33's , 2" lift and I don't baby it :twisted: ,I do have a speed sensor , it could make a difference but also check ur O2 sensor if its stuffed it could use more fuel.Also 35's could give false Km's reading compared to 31's -33's hope this ...

Cheers mate , yeah when I take cap off there is pressure there ,hisses out,might have to have a look and test the relief value and yeah put the motor in myself.

Hi guys, just noticed today that I've got a bit of fuel leaking out of the black charcol cannister in my GQ ,304 VN V8 fitted, just wondering if there is a problem there or do I need a new one ,if so where do I get a new one from.

Hi mate , I just put mine in and it ran , it's just a standard one but out of a VN V8 ,only difference might be is if it's from a computerize auto ,cause earlier ones didn't matter if it was auto or manual box ,same ecu I think, cause mines out of an auto and mated to the patrol 5 speed works fine ...

Thanks guys , but park light switch works fine was adjusted when I did the conversion and the fluid is full too with new stuff

Hi mate ,I looked at doing the same thing had the GU tank sub tank at home , tried to fit it but mounting points were not the same and had to lower it to far down to clear the body,no body lift on mine might be all right if you have a body lift in ,cause the GU body is slightly higher in that spot ...

Check the little guaze filter in the injection pump,there was a post put up a little while ago showing where it was on the pump ,I think

Don't know if this works or not but the best way I was told to find the best tyre pressure for you car and load was to pump you tyre up to what you want then get a piece of chaulk, draw a line across you tyre tread ,then drive it a little bit ,check the chaulk line,no line in the middle to much ...

The main reason for puting the Marks adaptor on ,is because on some coversions the holden pump hits the steering box, as mine did, to get new hose made to suit the holden is about a couple hundred bucks, the only problem with puting the Marks adaptor on is trying to figure out how to do the air ...

Hi , I was just wondering if someone could help, I've got LED tail lights on my ute ,my problem is when I plug my trailer in, my tail lights stop working on the ute ,blinkers work, so do the stop lights and the rest of the parkers stay on as well its just the tail lights go off on the ute and every ...

The only problem is my rad's an alloy one with plastic tanks so can't extend the pipe and tried looking at the parts supplier but nothing so far,did go past the rad guy and he's making me a joiner piece to suit the 2 different size hoses so it should hopefuly fix the prob a bit better

I've just gone through all this insurance crap with my 4by ,car's insured with suncorp at the moment and has been for years ,but know I've chopped it and put in a V8 they won't touch me now,nor will RACQ or Shannons,ended up going to TCSI and they got Lummlys to cover me with agreed value ,plus all ...

I had the opposite , put LED's on my GQ Dual cab and they flash really fast now , might have to look at get another flasher unit ,any idear where to get them from , do you know if Supa cheap or Repco sell them.
