Re: gu wagon rattle in dash

Most annoying rattle i ever had sounded like it was coming from the dash but was actually the bonnet hinge. There is a rivet in each arm on either side that allows the arm to pivot and the rivet in that was loose. Fixed it by removing the bonnet and placing the rivet on a piece of steel and belting ...

Ive no idea, its just a metalic silver tester about the size of a pen i've had it for 20 years or so, but i have never had it spark like it does now, I thought maybe something wrong with the electrics but is it likely to be the tester maybe?

Testing gives a 'big' spark

I have a fuse box mounted on the firewall of my QG where there is a positive wire in from the dual battery and it disperses through about 6 glass fuses to various accessories. When I connect my basic tester to the earth of the dual battery and touch the other end on the far end of a fuse it lights ...

Had similar thing happen to my Maverick when going down steep inclines. When it made the bang did it lurch forward a bit and then regain control, mine would do that every few metres. Turned out to be the front R.H. hub was not engaging completely inside and it was slipping when under extreme force ...

By laminate it I guess you mean put a larger diameter piece of tubing like a sleeve over where its actually bent to reinforce the weak spot, that sounds a good idea and shouldnt be too dificult. What's the'leg' you talk of putting in.

MIne has bent the other way not sideways towards vehicle but front to back of vehicle on the vrtical section. That has then pulled up the front of the step section. A mate of mine has workshop with a 50 ton press, we are going to see what we can do with that tonight.

I'm sure you can but theres a fair few different hoses. If you are just looking for spares to carry off road I bought a top and bottom radiator hose plus I keep a length 4 foot of heater hose. ARB Side Rails bent.

Had a slight altercation with a log on Deep Creek 2 yesterday and managed to bend the section of bar on the side rails that runs from the end of the step to the bull bar. I'm pretty sure if you remove your glove box its in behind there. Its a metal boxy shaped gadget about 4cm cubed. My fan wouldnt go past the 2nd speed about 5 years ago and i replaced that and all was well..

I'd just be putting decent rubber on it for now. My Maverick went everywhere without a locker and I only put that in a few years ago as it was about the same as repairing the LSD. The Nissans are amazing vehicles and once you put your 2" lift in you will go plenty of places with some decent tyres.

So once we get the Auto bits off we need to still attach the Drive Clutch to the end of the axle. That will then mate with the New Hub? Or are you saying once we get the Auto bits off the Drive clutch is actually on the axle already so that the manual hub will then bolt on and match up?

My sons auto hubs on his GQ are stuffed and we were told you can just bolt on GQ manual hubs. Bought two of them but the drive clutch on the end of my manual axle is nothing like the end of the Auto axle. Does something have to be removed from the end of the axle area for it to reveal the drive ...

There is a horrible noise coming from something at the front of the engine its sort of a clackity clack clack noise if anyone can follow that. I suspect its a bearing on one of the pulleys there.
