Re: gu wagon rattle in dash
Most annoying rattle i ever had sounded like it was coming from the dash but was actually the bonnet hinge. There is a rivet in each arm on either side that allows the arm to pivot and the rivet in that was loose. Fixed it by removing the bonnet and placing the rivet on a piece of steel and belting ...

Testing gives a 'big' spark
I have a fuse box mounted on the firewall of my QG where there is a positive wire in from the dual battery and it disperses through about 6 glass fuses to various accessories. When I connect my basic tester to the earth of the dual battery and touch the other end on the far end of a fuse it lights ...

Had similar thing happen to my Maverick when going down steep inclines. When it made the bang did it lurch forward a bit and then regain control, mine would do that every few metres. Turned out to be the front R.H. hub was not engaging completely inside and it was slipping when under extreme force ...

All fixed now, disconnected the front section and used the press to straighten it. It pushed the tube a bit flat so turned it on its side as well and pressed that too so now the straightened section is a bit square but its only over about 4" of the length of the front bar. Backed off the one poxy ...

I wonder about where the other leg as everyone keeps referring to it would go. Its not likely to stop bending where mine has bent I wouldnt think. I am still waiting on my mate to get back to me about using his 5 ton press to straighten this out and use his forklift the push down on step when I have ...

I'm sure you can but theres a fair few different hoses. If you are just looking for spares to carry off road I bought a top and bottom radiator hose plus I keep a length 4 foot of heater hose. That means whatever weird shaped hose goes I've got it mostly covered. There are a couple of heater hoses ...

ARB Side Rails bent.
Had a slight altercation with a log on Deep Creek 2 yesterday and managed to bend the section of bar on the side rails that runs from the end of the step to the bull bar. Its only been pushed back about an inch but it means the door wont open properley so I need to get a new section of bar to go ...

Thanks everyone. It was easy once we removed the circlip the old Auto bits came off and we were back to the end of the axle where the two philips head screw heads were visible as Jessie928 said. Then we fitted the parts required to convert it (got them from Halls 4x4 wreckers $95 the lot for both ...

Swapping an Auto hub to Manual Hub on a GQ
My sons auto hubs on his GQ are stuffed and we were told you can just bolt on GQ manual hubs. Bought two of them but the drive clutch on the end of my manual axle is nothing like the end of the Auto axle. Does something have to be removed from the end of the axle area for it to reveal the drive ...

GQ clutch issue after new slave cylinder and hose.
Had a leak from the clutch slave cylinder so replaced that bled and it was working a treat for 1 day. Found the hose that leads into it had a leak where the flexible hose joined at the fitting that goes into slave cylinder. Did not have hose and it looked awkward to get to so took to a workshop ...

How to identify which bearing is making the noise.
There is a horrible noise coming from something at the front of the engine its sort of a clackity clack clack noise if anyone can follow that. I suspect its a bearing on one of the pulleys there. How can you identify which one it is (if thats it anyway) when there is so much engine noise which makes ...

Indicators wont reset after new steering wheel fitted.
This isnt technically a 4x4 question but someone will know I hope. My son has whacked a flash new steering wheel on his subaru impreza. He used a boss kit but now the indicators dont reset once you turn a corner. What as he left off. He still has the orginal wheel and I notice the little lead that ...
