Beg / borrow / steal a copy of the CAMS Manual. All the specs for motorsport rollcages are there - dimensions, materials etc.

The firing order is all about the two-plane crankshaft in a V8. To get good balance, the firing order is uneven, which gives the characteristic V8 rumble. Build a V8 on a single plane crankshaft i.e a like a 4 cyl shaft, and you'll get more power coz the manifolds etc can be tuned properly. Race V8s ...

D/C driveshafts again
Just found these posts http://www.devon4x4.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2680&sid=f35812fe3239abf342796c49727b10a6 http://forums.lr4x4.com/index.php?showtopic=5502&st=0 It seems there are more alternatives to the D2 shaft. I like the idea of bolting a d/c up to the standard flange. Regards Max P

snip If the EGR is stuck open when the engine is cold or at low revs then low oxygen content in the inlet charge will result in unburnt fuel and lotsa smoke end snip Hmm this is interesting. I think my EGR connection fell off, & the back of the car is sooty. I putthe smoking down to the chip, maybe ...

How long do the red & yellow top Optimas last?
Coz I can't remember when mine went in. Could be 5 or 6 years ago. How long have they been around?
Now mine aren't quite holding a full charge overnight. Thinking of changing them before winter. Unless anyone has been running these things for longer?

Did you flick the swith on the move or at a standstill? If at rest, I'd say yep theres a problem. The ARB doesn't use much force to engage. I think if buggered you can blow (suck?) down the lines to operate it, a bit like maxidrive. Does it follow that it doesn't need much opposing force to keep it ...

Yep I've got the MJ Lee fronts in, been a year now. Can't see them anymore on the MJ Lee Engineering site, but thay are a good thing. PM me if you want a pic. We installed them to offset the kneel and understeer that comes with Sam's holey bushes. They help in the turn-in phase of a corner. Makes ...

Do a search on us plasma rope manufacture sites and you'll come up with stuff like this http://www.samsonrope.com/home/pdf/ClassII_12Strand_End-End.pdf From memory a fid is a tool about the length of a biro. Its worth adding too that within Sydney LROC we've had a few cases of the track rod bending/failing under compression. The standard item just doesn't seem up to it, let alone with bigger offset. It was not amusing to watch a 300tdi defender with one front wheel stationary, & the other turning. As an ...

The less backspacing, the more offset. The steering wheel moves around in your hands more. Ok at low speeds, can be a pain on bumpy roads at highway speeds. We had one in LROC with very little backspacing, have a look at the blue one here http://www.slunnie.com/coppermine/thumbnails.php?album=56 He ...

Why do you think the shocks are too short? You're getting exactly the same droop, and the same compression - maybe as bit less if it's coilbound. For the rears, EE also have dropped mounts https://www.expeditionexchange.com/shockmounts/ But then you'll need longer bump stops to prevent the shocks ...
